This is from my home county. St. Clair, IL

The Gateway Pundit has a good round-up fro the political corruption in my county. St. Clair county is one of the most corrupt counties in the country. It is amazing that they never got caught before now. St. Clair county is even more corrupt than Cook county (Chicago). Finally the Democratic machine here might be taken down a little bit. It is amazing to see how the elections go here in St. Clair county. In most of the rural part of the county it is very conservative and votes for Republicans, but it always ESL, Centerville and a few other that changes the vote to the Democrats. They always wait until the other votes are in and then see how many votes they need to win. It is pretty much well known that this happens, but it is hushed up. Oh well, read the post at the Gateway Pundit to read about the voter fraud and corruption in St. Clair county

Interesting post at The Barking Moonbat Early Warning System

Looks like we are going to have some colder weather in the not too distant future. Go read here at Barking Moonbat Early Warning System The lack of sun spots does seem to correlate with colder weather. So I wouldn't be surprised to see the Earth cooling off in the next few decades with less sun activity.

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is re-opening it's investigation into Saddam's WMDs. Found at Captain's Quarters The whole "Bush Lied" crowd will never believe this and will say that Bush plated WMDs in Syria, if that is where Saddam hid his WMDs

A Good Story

Republican or Democrat? A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth. She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying. Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus, college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over." Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!" The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently,"Welcome to the Republican Party."

What ‘we’ means

A good letter to the editor of Star & Stripes. H/T to Blonde Sagacity What ‘we’ means From time to time people do become delusional. It is all right, though. The writer of “ ‘We’ are promoting freedom?” (letter, Jan. 31) did say something that was right: “I know that everyone is ‘doing their part’ in … this war.” What he fails to realize, especially being a noncommissioned officer, is that it doesn’t matter where you are supporting the war on terrorism, you’re still supporting the effort. Yes, those who have died serving their country have paid the ultimate price that any one of us would have paid. The moment you forsake those who have not had the opportunity to give the ultimate price is the day you disgrace those who have fallen. We stands as “we,” we pledge allegiance to the flag. The moment you decide that “we” no longer means “we,” as it is intended to mean, is the day you forget what “we” all have sacrificed, that “we” have all lost, and what “we” have all gained. We are the armed forces; we are the mothers, fathers, sons and daughters of America. We have taken the ultimate pledge for our country. No one has that right to take it away from us, not if you’re in Bagram, Afghanistan, or Beale Air Force Base, Calif. Be proud of those who have had to sacrifice what is most dear to them; try to pass along that pride to those near and far. Remember, “we” will always be there. Tech. Sgt. Michael GarciaRamstein Air Base, Germany

Support Denmark

We are all Danes now - The Boston Globe

A great editorial by JEFF JACOBY H/T to Baking Moonbat Early Warming System HINDUS CONSIDER it sacrilegious to eat meat from cows, so when a Danish supermarket ran a sale on beef and veal last fall, Hindus everywhere reacted with outrage. India recalled its ambassador to Copenhagen, and Danish flags were burned in Calcutta, Bombay, and Delhi. A Hindu mob in Sri Lanka severely beat two employees of a Danish-owned firm, and demonstrators in Nepal chanted: ''War on Denmark! Death to Denmark!"In many places, shops selling Dansk china or Lego toys were attacked by rioters, and two Danish embassies were firebombed. read the rest here We are all Danes now - The Boston Globe

Grey Eagle Everyone check out Grey Eagle's website. It is a very good site that has tributes to soldiers who gave their life for the protection of our country. It also has a good insight to the lives of soldiers over in Iraq.
